Platform-specific aspects include web services-specific aspects and aspects of web services hosting platforms. Abstract We propose an approach to (web services) development based on the separation of platform-specific aspects from platform-independent aspects of designs. Platform-specific aspects include web services-specific aspects and aspects of web services hosting platforms. Web services hosting platforms are necessary for web services realization and include programming languages (Java,. CCM). Our approach is proposed within the context of the Model-Driven Architecture defined by the Object Management Group (OMG). We identify modelling techniques to be used at platform-independent level and mappings to Web Services abstractions and abstractions of web services implementation infrastructures.
